Students will spend three days using antique style hand tools to build this historical Pembroke style table. The tables will be built out of Tulip Poplar, with two dropleaves. The leaves are supported by 5-knuckle joint swing out supports on each side. The dropleaf joints will be cut with a matched pair of handmade rule joint planes. The top is attached to the undercarriage by a series of hand-cut buttons. Tulip poplar is an excellent, historical, and inexpensive hardwood choice for this table as it takes a dye well and can be dyed to look like cherry, mahogany or walnut.
